Snug Tonight

A smart sleep clothing guide for parents

As a mom of two, I never knew how to dress my child at night. It's warm at bedtime but freezing by 3am — and getting it wrong means a child that wakes up too hot or too cold.

Snug Tonight is a mobile app that uses tonight's weather forecast and your child's age stage (Newborn, Infant, or Toddler) to tell you exactly what to dress them in. No more guessing, no more Googling at midnight.

I took this from a personal problem all the way to a shipped product — research, requirements, design, build, App Store launch, and ongoing iteration on real user feedback. Below is what I did at each stage.

Discovery & Research

I had this problem myself as a mom — I never knew how to dress my child at night. I asked other parents in WhatsApp groups and found they all had the same struggle. Then I checked what apps already exist.

Strategy

I decided what would make my app different from everything else out there. The key difference: Snug Tonight dresses your child for the whole night, not just bedtime.

Planning

I wrote down everything the app needs to do — user stories, acceptance criteria, and a prioritised backlog. I also built the clothing recommendation logic across the three age stages (Newborn, Infant, Toddler).

Design & Pivot

Complete

I designed all the app screens for both light and dark mode. During this stage I also found an existing app called "BabyDress" — so I renamed mine to "Snug Tonight" and made sure my features are clearly different.

Development & QA

Complete

I built the working app, then put it through rigorous code review cycles — fixing bugs, hardening security, getting it App Store-ready, and adding the engagement patterns that drive retention.

Launch

Complete

Snug Tonight is live on the Apple App Store. Parents can search "Snug Tonight" and download it on iPhone or iPad.

v1.0.1 is live on the App Store — a reliability release with crash reporting wired in, network-resilience improvements on every cloud write, and a full accessibility sweep. The kind of work that's invisible in a happy-path demo but defines whether a product earns trust.
